Adjective Clause in Hindi
जो उपवाक्य (clause) अपने से पहले प्रयुक्त Noun या Pronoun की विशेषता बताते हैं, वो Adjective Clause कहलाते हैं। Adjective Clause वाले complex sentences के अनुवाद लिए अग्रलिखित नियम प्रयुक्त किये जाते हैं -
Rule 1. Who, which, whom, that, whose आदि Relative Pronouns से तथा when, where, why, how आदि Relative Adverb से Adjective Clause बनते हैं ; जैसे -
ऐसे विद्यार्थियों से दूर रहो जो झूठ बोलते हैं।
Avoid such students as tell a lie.
Or Avoid those students who tell a lie.
नोट - Such के बाद as आने पर Adjective Clause बनती है।
Rule 2. Which और that का प्रयोग वस्तु और छोटे जानवरों के लिए है ; जैसे -
(1) यह वही किला है जो अकबर ने बनवाया था।
This is the fort which was built by Akbar.
(2) यह वही कुर्सी है जो राम खरीदी थी।
This is the chair that Ram bought yesterday.
Rule 3. Who का प्रयोग Nominative Clause में, whom का प्रयोग Objective case में तथा whose का प्रयोग Possessive case में होता है ; जैसे -
(1) ईश्वर उन्ही की सहायता करता है, जो अपनी सहायता करते हैं।
God helps those who help themselves.
(2) मै उस लड़के को जानता हूँ जिसे कल तुम पढ़ा रहे थे।
I know the boy whom you were teaching yesterday.
नोट - Adjective Clause का प्रयोग निम्न दो तरह से होता है -
(i) Principle Clause के बाद में, (ii) Principle Clause के बीच में।
उदाहरण 1. The boy who came here yesterday is my friend.
इस वाक्य में adjective clauses ने Principle Clause को दो भागों में विभाजित कर दिया है। पहला भाग The boy तथा दूसरा भाग is my friend है।
Example 2. Do you know the man who has written this book ?
इस वाक्य में Adjective Clause का प्रयोग Principle Clause के बाद हुआ है।

Adjective Clause Meaning in Hindi - Adjective Clause को हिंदी में 'विशेषण उपवाक्य' या 'विशेषण खण्ड' कहते हैं।
Examples of Adjective Clause in Hindi
1.वह लड़का जो खेल रहा है वह मेरा भाई है।
The boy who is playing is my brother.
2. यह वही लड़की है जिसकी मैं हमेशा तारीफ करता हूं।
This is the girl whom I praise frequently.
3. कल हम उस शहर में जाएंगे जो बहुत बड़ा है।
Tomorrow we will go to the city which is very big.
4. मेरी मां ने मुझे बुक किताब लाकर दी जो कल मैंने देखी थी।
My mother gave me the book which I saw yesterday.
5. हमें वह किताब दे दो जो सस्ता है।
Give me the book which is cheap.
6. मेरा भाई एक लड़के किसे मिला जिसकी आंखें निली थी।
My brother meet a boy whose eyes were blue.
7. यह वही लड़का है जिसे मैं शादी करने वाली हूं।
This is the boy whom I am going to Marry.
8. मुझे वह स्कूल पसंद है जो मेरे घर के पास है।
I like that school which is near my house.
9. यह वही लड़का है जिसने मुझे मारा है।
This is the boy who has beaten me.
10. यह चित्र उस लड़के ने बनाया है जो दरवाजे के पास खड़ा है।
This drawing is made by that boy who is standing near the door.
Adjective Clause Exercise
Translate the following sentences into English :
1. ईश्वर उन्हें की सहायता करता है जो दूसरों की सहायता करते हैं।
2. जो लड़का आया था वह हमारे कॉलेज का सर्वश्रेष्ठ विद्यार्थी है।
3. जो अध्यापक बच्चों को ध्यान पूर्वक पढ़ आता है सब बच्चे उसका सम्मान करते हैं।
4. सब उस लड़की से घृणा करते हैं जो झूठ बोलता है।
5. यह वही किला है जिसे मुगल सम्राट शाहजहां ने बनवाया था।
6. ऐसे विद्यार्थियों से दूर रहो जो अपना समय नष्ट करते हैं।
7. क्या तुम उस लेखक को जानते हो जिसने शकुंतला नाटक लिखा था।
8. वह लड़का जिसकी साईकिल कल चुरा ली गई थी मेरे मित्र का पुत्र है।
9. मैं उस लड़की को जानता हूं जिसे तुम आज पढ़ा रहे थे।
10. मैं उस व्यक्ति से दूर रहता हूं जो सिगरेट पीता है।
